Job Overview: The Assistant PPH Officer position is situated within the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Services of UNHCR's office in The Hague, Netherlands. This role is designed to support the fundraising efforts of the Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH) team, which focuses on engaging with corporations, high-net-worth individuals (UHNWI), and foundations to secure long-term income for UNHCR's programs. The Assistant PPH Officer will work closely with the Netherlands PSP team and the broader PSP network to enhance UNHCR's visibility and engagement with potential donors and partners. This position offers a unique opportunity to cultivate and manage relationships with diverse stakeholders, ensuring that UNHCR can effectively respond to the needs of refugees and displaced persons globally. The role emphasizes the importance of strategic partnerships and innovative fundraising initiatives to broaden the organization's donor base and enhance its impact.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant PPH Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing UNHCR's fundraising capabilities. Key responsibilities include coordinating international corporate third-party fundraising campaigns, organizing events, and facilitating employee engagement activities. The officer will initiate and lead efforts to build new partnerships with companies, major donors, and foundations in the Netherlands, aligning these initiatives with the private sector engagement strategy. Additionally, the officer will liaise with existing partners and donors to strengthen relationships and cultivate support. The role also involves raising awareness of UNHCR among target groups, developing presentations and proposals to attract new partners, and managing relationships with current PSE partners to ensure shared goals are met. The Assistant PPH Officer will contribute to the implementation of the strategic plan for Private Partnerships & Philanthropy in the Netherlands, stay informed about the fundraising landscape, and proactively seek new opportunities for collaboration. Furthermore, the officer will adhere to UNHCR's due diligence policies for PPH collaborations and provide ad hoc support as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a completion of HBO+/University (equivalent to Bachelor’s) degree in fields such as Marketing, International Relations, Management, Business Administration, Economics, Law, Hotel Management, Journalism, Communications, or a related area. Additionally, a minimum of one year of relevant work experience is required, particularly in supporting cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies with private sector donors. Proven experience in private sector engagement, including support beyond financial contributions, is essential. Familiarity with CRM systems, such as Salesforce, is considered an asset, as is experience working with international NGOs or UN organizations. Candidates should also demonstrate a good understanding of the Netherlands' fundraising environment, particularly in relation to Private Sector Partnerships and Philanthropy.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a completed HBO+/University degree, which is equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree. The degree should be in a relevant field such as Marketing, International Relations, Management, Business Administration, Economics, Law, Hotel Management, Journalism, Communications, or a related discipline. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of fundraising and partnership development within the context of UNHCR's mission.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have at least one year of previous job experience that is relevant to the functions of the role. Additional Notes: This position is associated with a yearly contract that is valid until the end of the year, with the possibility of renewal. The salary for this position ranges between €5,833 and €6,760 gross, in accordance with the local National Officer salary scale of the United Nations.
