Job Overview:
The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Representative and the Strategic Communications and Advocacy Expert of UNFPA Angola. The role involves supporting the team in partnerships, advocacy, and sustainable financing for UNFPA’s transformative results. The intern will engage in a structured work-plan that outlines achievements and learning opportunities throughout the internship. This position is crucial in supporting UNFPA’s strategic plan (2022-2025), which focuses on ending preventable maternal deaths, unmet needs for family planning, and gender-based violence. The intern will play a vital role in addressing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on women's and girls’ access to sexual and reproductive health and rights, while also contributing to the overall goals of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will support the preparation, implementation, and follow-up of the first edition of an advocacy event on obstetric fistula in Angola. They will contribute to other major advocacy events organized by UNFPA Angola, including workshops with parliamentarians on family planning, the launch of FP30 commitments, and private sector engagement initiatives. The intern will assist in developing and implementing a sustainability financing strategy and accompanying communications/advocacy strategy to advance Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. This includes creating a financing landscape, developing value propositions, cost recovery strategies, and engaging the private sector. Additionally, the intern will help the communications team draft publications, social media content, human interest stories, promotional materials, and assist in organizing programmatic events and media campaigns. The intern will also support various tasks related to communications, visibility, advocacy actions, and resource mobilization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university postgraduate degree in relevant fields such as human rights, public health, gender studies, communications, international relations, governance, or business administration. They should either be currently enrolled in a postgraduate degree program or have recently graduated (within the last five years). Candidates who have completed a bachelor’s degree within the last five years or are enrolled in a master’s program are also eligible. Experience working with development agencies, including volunteer work, is preferred, and prior internship or volunteer experience with UN agencies is considered a plus.
