Job Overview:
The position of Investment Officer is situated within the Infrastructure and Energy Division (IEN) of IDB Invest, which is responsible for leading the development and delivery of operations in transport, water and sanitation, energy, and social infrastructure across all regions. The officer will play a crucial role in supporting the structuring, negotiation, approval, and closing of infrastructure projects within the assigned region. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of transactions, conducting analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis and modeling, preparing client presentations, and engaging in market research and industry analysis. The officer will also manage multiple projects, cultivate relationships with clients and stakeholders, and contribute to the professional development of junior team members. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying investment opportunities and addressing client needs, making it essential for the officer to stay informed about market trends and industry developments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Investment Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Deal Origination and Execution: Supporting senior team members in identifying and evaluating potential investment opportunities, assisting in the due diligence process, and contributing to the preparation and review of transaction documents.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams across IDB Invest, fostering a team-oriented environment, and providing mentorship to junior team members.
  • Financial Analysis and Modeling: Conducting in-depth financial analysis, building and maintaining complex financial models, and performing scenario analysis to support investment decisions.
  • Client Presentations and Communication: Preparing client presentations and engaging in client interactions to address needs and provide strategic advice.
  • Market Research and Industry Analysis: Staying abreast of market trends and conducting thorough research on specific sectors to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Project Management: Managing multiple tasks and deadlines associated with various projects and ensuring timely completion.
  • Continuous Learning and Development: Seeking opportunities for professional development and contributing to the development of junior team members.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with clients, investors, and stakeholders to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or economics. A Master's degree or MBA is considered a plus. Additionally, candidates should have at least two years of relevant professional experience in analysis and loan origination, with a validated track record of working with a broad range of financial instruments and products, including equity and mezzanine. Strong client relationship experience and skills are highly valued, along with expertise in understanding client needs and market dynamics in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes at least a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as finance, accounting, business administration, or economics. A Master's degree or MBA will be considered advantageous, as it demonstrates a higher level of expertise and understanding of complex financial concepts and practices.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in analysis and loan origination, particularly in structuring complex structured finance transactions or financial analysis. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with various financial instruments and products, including equity and mezzanine financing. Experience in a similar role within an investment or advisory firm, bank, or infrastructure company is desirable, along with strong client relationship management skills.

Languages:
Proficiency in both Spanish and English, spoken and written, is mandatory for this position. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is considered a plus, as it may enhance communication with a broader range of stakeholders and clients across the region.

Additional Notes:
The position is offered as a national staff contract for an initial duration of 36 months, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement.
