Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: writing articles and features for the magazine Union Postale and the UPU website based on research and interviews; supporting collaboration with UPU programmes to develop promotional materials such as factsheets, brochures, and blogs; proposing and preparing content for the UPU's social media channels; creating multimedia content, including filming and editing video interviews, designing social media graphics, and taking/editing photographs; providing logistical support for events; and assisting with daily tasks such as media monitoring and updating communications contacts and media lists. This diverse set of responsibilities will allow the intern to engage actively with the UPU's communication efforts and gain hands-on experience in the field.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications at the time of application: a background in journalism or communication studies, or relevant work experience in the field. Candidates should possess good interviewing techniques, analytical skills, and creativity. Experience with filming, video, and photo editing is essential, as well as familiarity with social media platforms such as X, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Instagram. A sound understanding of major digital communication tools, platforms, and trends is also required to effectively contribute to the UPU's communication strategies.
Educational Background:
The internship is primarily targeted at students and recent graduates who have completed their studies in journalism, communication, or a related field. Candidates should have a strong academic background that supports their ability to perform the tasks required in this role. The internship is exclusively reserved for individuals who are currently enrolled in a degree program or have graduated within six months prior to the start of the internship.
Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandatory, candidates are expected to have some level of experience in journalism or communication, whether through academic projects, internships, or previous employment.
