Job Overview: The Project Support Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) program in Turkey. This position involves working closely with the National Project Officer and the Senior Project Associate to facilitate the implementation and monitoring of AVRR activities. The incumbent will be responsible for providing administrative and financial support, ensuring effective communication and coordination among stakeholders, and enhancing the monitoring and evaluation processes for the assistance provided to AVRR beneficiaries. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks effectively. The Project Support Assistant will also contribute to the development of new ideas and tools to improve the identification and assistance of AVRR beneficiaries, ensuring that all activities align with IOM's standards and protocols.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Project Support Assistant include:
Supporting the implementation and monitoring of AVRR activities, including outreach and case registration using MiMOSA and other tools.
Assisting in the organization of workshops, meetings, and conferences related to AVRR.
Liaising with national counterparts and relevant partners, including governmental authorities and NGOs, to ensure effective collaboration and resource sharing.
Reporting regularly on the referrals of potential and actual AVRR beneficiaries and the assistance provided.
Compiling, summarizing, and analyzing data on specific project topics to inform decision-making.
Providing feedback on challenges and progress in AVRR activities and identifying gaps in referral protocols.
Participating in training and workshops to enhance the capacity of partners in the identification and assistance of AVRR beneficiaries.
Supporting the evaluation of the effectiveness of assistance provided to AVRR beneficiaries.
Ensuring operational coordination with various IOM departments, such as Procurement and Finance, for successful project implementation. 1
Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Project Support Assistant position include:
A school diploma with five years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with three years of professional experience.
Completion of learning programs or specific training relevant to the functions of the position is considered an asset.
Proven analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Excellent computer literacy and ability to work independently under pressure.
Knowledge of social work theory and evidence-based practices, as well as understanding human behavior and well-being.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess either a school diploma with five years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited academic institution, with three years of relevant professional experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Completion of relevant training programs is an asset.
Experience: Candidates should have experience working with migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable groups, as well as experience in case management environments. Experience in liaising with governmental authorities and other institutions is essential. Familiarity with protection, counter-trafficking, child protection, and humanitarian affairs is highly desirable. The ability and willingness to travel are also required.
Languages: Fluency in Turkish and English is mandatory for this position, both oral and written. Working knowledge of Arabic, Spanish, and French is advantageous, as IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Turkey will be considered. The appointment will be contingent upon medical fitness certification and verification of residency and visa requirements. IOM has a zero-tolerance policy regarding conduct incompatible with its objectives, including discrimination and harassment. The selection process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment for 24 months.
