Job Overview:
The Project Associate position within IOM Jordan is integral to the Migration Business and Human Rights portfolio, specifically targeting the garment sector. The role involves supporting the planning, implementation, and monitoring of community-based participatory activities aimed at enhancing the well-being of garment workers. This position requires collaboration with factory welfare officers and workers, ensuring that activities are inclusive and accessible, particularly for vulnerable groups. The Project Associate will work closely under the supervision of the Head of Programmes and the Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion Project Officer, with a focus on community engagement and the promotion of worker rights and welfare. The activities are designed to be conducted primarily during weekends, necessitating flexibility in working hours to accommodate the needs of the workers and the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support activity design by assisting in the development of community-based initiatives that enhance worker well-being in the ATIC area, particularly in Jerash and Atlanta.
  • Prepare work plans and schedules, drafting detailed implementation timelines and logistical arrangements for awareness-raising and recreational activities.
  • Coordinate cash assistance and procurement by monitoring distribution, handling logistical and financial arrangements, and ensuring compliance with project standards.
  • Document and report progress by maintaining records and drafting reports on outcomes, challenges, and lessons learned, while monitoring key performance indicators.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including factory management and workers, to understand needs and promote community-based activities.
  • Conduct post-distribution monitoring to assess the impact of activities on participants.
  • Identify implementation shortfalls and suggest corrective measures to the supervisor.
  • Support sustainability by identifying ways to maintain the impact of activities beyond the project timeline.
  • Apply principles of inclusivity and protection, ensuring activities are accessible and safe for all participants. 1
  • Report any grievances or protection concerns raised during activities and coordinate with relevant teams for follow-up. 1
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a complete school diploma with five years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Business Administration, or related fields from an accredited institution, along with three years of relevant professional experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Additionally, candidates should have experience working with vulnerable populations, including migrants and refugees, and prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations is advantageous.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes either a complete school diploma with extensive relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, or Business Administration. The degree must be from an accredited academic institution recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have significant experience working with vulnerable groups, including migrants, refugees, and internally displaced persons. Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions in a multicultural setting is highly valued. The ideal candidate should also have experience organizing recreational and skills-based activities, demonstrating a commitment to the well-being of affected populations.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Arabic, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments to ensure effective communication with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is subject to funding confirmation, and the selection process may be used to fill similar roles in various duty stations. Recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar positions for a period of 24 months. The post is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Jordan will be considered. Appointment is contingent upon medical fitness certification, residency verification, and necessary government authorizations.
