Job Overview:
The Project Support Officer position is integral to the EU-funded Mainstreaming Employment into Trade and Investment (METI), Phase II project, which is part of the Employment in Investment (EMPINVEST) branch of the ILO. This role involves providing specialized programming, finance, and administrative support services to ensure the effective coordination of project implementation activities. The incumbent will work closely with the METI Project Technical Officer and the Senior Finance and Admin Assistant to ensure that project activities are executed efficiently and in compliance with established rules and regulations. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality outputs in a timely manner. The incumbent will also be responsible for monitoring project outcomes, compiling data, and assisting in budget analysis, thereby playing a crucial role in the successful implementation of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Support Officer include assisting with the planning and preparatory work of the METI project, monitoring the status of project outcomes and deliverables, and ensuring compliance with applicable rules and regulations. The incumbent will compile, summarize, and present information related to project budgets and staffing, calculate cost estimates, and participate in budget analysis. Additionally, the officer will input data into the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, provide administrative and financial support to project staff, and prepare reports for donor reporting and audits. The role also involves organizing seminars and workshops, maintaining databases, and responding to general inquiries about the project. The officer will be expected to keep abreast of changes in policies and procedures and provide general office management support as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a completion of secondary school education, with formal training in accounting and/or finance being an asset. The role requires at least five years of progressively responsible office support work experience, particularly in program and budget support and project administration. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain financial records are essential. The candidate should also demonstrate responsible behavior and ethical conduct in handling confidential matters.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a completion of secondary school education. Additional formal training in accounting and finance is preferred, as it would enhance the candidate's ability to perform the financial and administrative duties associated with the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in office support work, with a focus on program and budget support as well as project administration. Experience working with EU-funded projects is considered a plus, as it would provide valuable insights into the specific requirements and expectations of such initiatives.

Languages:
The Project Support Officer must have an excellent command of English and French, with good knowledge of Arabic as a working language of the duty station. Proficiency in these languages is crucial for effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, as well as for the preparation of reports and documentation.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is fixed-term for one year, with the possibility of extension subject to the availability of funds and satisfactory performance. The role is based in Beirut, Lebanon, and involves providing support for operations in multiple countries, including Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and the State of Palestine. The entry-level salary for this position is 43,632 USD per year.
