Job Overview: The National Focal Point for the SDG Stories Project will play a crucial role in facilitating the implementation of the SDG Stories Initiative in Palestine. This position involves working closely with schools, local governments, and various stakeholders to promote the Sustainable Development Goals through storytelling. The incumbent will be responsible for identifying schools, particularly in rural and marginalized areas, to participate in the initiative. The role requires establishing networks between public and private schools, conducting field visits to monitor project progress, and organizing highlight events related to the SDG Stories Initiative. The National Focal Point will also serve as a liaison between ESCWA and the Palestinian Ministry of Education, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among all parties involved in the project.
Duties and Responsibilities: The National Focal Point will undertake a variety of tasks, including: acting as the primary contact between ESCWA, the Palestinian Ministry of Education, and beneficiary schools; identifying target schools for participation in the SDG Stories Initiative; advising schools and stakeholders on the implementation of SDG-related activities; facilitating information flow between ESCWA and schools; organizing virtual meetings for the SDG Stories Team; assisting in planning and organizing events such as capacity building sessions for teachers and the 'SDG Stories Day - Palestine'; promoting intergenerational dialogue and good citizenship among participants; and contributing to the overall success of the SDG Stories Initiative in Palestine.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a recognized first-level degree in education, sociology, psychology, social service, international relations, political science, or a related field. Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience working with local governments and international organizations on projects related to education, science, and culture. Experience working with public and private schools in Palestine is essential, and relevant experience with the United Nations is desirable.
