Job Overview:
The Driver position within the UNHCR Office is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of personnel and goods. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver's primary responsibilities include: driving UNHCR vehicles for the transport of authorized passengers, delivering and collecting documents and other items, and meeting official personnel at airports or other locations while facilitating immigration and customs formalities. The Driver will perform day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicles, including checking oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires, ensuring that vehicles are roadworthy and maintained to security standards. The incumbent will also perform minor repairs, arrange for other repairs, and keep the vehicle clean. In case of an accident, the Driver must follow established procedures and ensure valid documentation for passengers and cargo. The role also involves logging official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, and oil changes, while strictly following instructions and security guidance from supervisors. The Driver will be expected to support logistics during field missions and coordinate with local authorities and partners as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driving license and have knowledge of driving rules and regulations. Essential functional skills include basic vehicle mechanical skills and a strong understanding of safety regulations. The position requires accountability, effective communication, organizational awareness, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous learning. The Driver must demonstrate client and results orientation, technological awareness, analytical thinking, and planning and organizing abilities. Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of primary education or a high school diploma. Candidates should have at least two years of relevant experience in driving and vehicle maintenance. Experience in a similar role within an international organization or a governmental agency is desirable.
