Job Overview:

Interns will engage in various projects involving C#/.NET applications, SharePoint-based applications, Azure DevOps, and Microsoft Power Platform apps. The role is designed to provide interns with hands-on experience in developing and customizing applications, analyzing requirements, and designing automation solutions to enhance productivity and streamline workflows. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals and gain insights into the intersection of technology and human rights advocacy, contributing to meaningful projects that have a global impact.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will assist in developing and customizing applications using various technologies, including C# / ASP.NET / .NET stack, HTML, JavaScript, React, and Node.js. They will also work with Microsoft Power Platform tools such as Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI. Responsibilities include designing, supporting, and migrating databases (MS SQL), analyzing requirements, and creating innovative automation solutions to improve workflows. Interns will explore options to enhance development processes using Azure DevOps and contribute to the overall efficiency of IT initiatives within the organization. The role requires collaboration with team members and the ability to adapt to diverse project needs.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess proven knowledge of Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, MS Azure Cloud Services, ASP.NET, MVC with C# programming language, and SQL server experience. Skills in programming and scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, and PowerShell are considered assets. Experience in database management, process automation, and application development is essential. Familiarity with technologies such as REST WEB-API calls, SharePoint applications, and CRM customization is also beneficial. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of the technologies relevant to the projects supported by OHCHR.

Educational Background:
To qualify for the internship program, applicants must be enrolled in the final academic year of a first-level university degree program (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) or in a graduate school program (Master's degree or equivalent) at the time of application. Preferred fields of study include Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related disciplines. This educational background ensures that candidates have the foundational knowledge necessary to contribute effectively to IT development initiatives.

Experience:
The internship is designed for candidates who are in the final stages of their academic programs or have recently completed their degrees. While prior professional experience is not mandatory, any relevant internships, projects, or coursework that demonstrate a candidate's skills in IT development, programming, or database management will be advantageous. The role is suitable for individuals looking to gain practical experience in a professional setting while contributing to significant human rights initiatives.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is considered an advantage, as it enhances communication and collaboration within the diverse international environment of the UN.
