Job Overview: The Development and Outreach Department of Human Rights Watch is currently seeking a student intern for its Paris office. This internship is designed for individuals who are eager to gain practical experience in a professional setting within a well-established international non-profit organization. The intern will be expected to work full-time for a duration of six months, starting in early October 202
The primary focus of the internship will be on fundraising, event planning, prospect research, database management, and maintaining relationships with donors and partner organizations. Interns will have the opportunity to engage in various activities that contribute to the department's goals, including assisting in the preparation and organization of events, conducting research on potential donors, and supporting the creation of promotional materials. This role is ideal for students who wish to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world context while developing skills in event planning, fundraising, and donor engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
Assisting in the preparation and organization of fundraising events, such as the annual fundraising dinner and donor meetings.
Conducting research on potential donors and partners to identify new fundraising opportunities.
Updating and maintaining the database records and documents related to fundraising efforts.
Drafting correspondence and documents related to donor outreach and engagement.
Supporting the creation of promotional materials and mailings to enhance outreach efforts.
Assisting in the management of the fundraising and donor management database to ensure accurate tracking of donor information.
Supporting the translation of documents between English and French as needed.
Participating in planning meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development and understanding of human rights issues.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
Enrollment in a Master's degree program in Management, Event Management, Communication, or a related field is preferred.
A perfect command of French (both oral and written) is required, along with advanced proficiency in English.
Previous experience in a non-profit organization or international setting is considered an asset.
Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills, motivation, and reliability, with a keen interest in human rights advocacy.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate will be pursuing a Master's degree in a relevant field such as Management, Event Management, or Communication. This educational background will provide the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively contribute to the Development and Outreach Department's initiatives and objectives.
Experience: While prior experience in a non-profit organization or relevant field is advantageous, it is not strictly required. The internship is designed to provide practical experience and training for students who are eager to learn and grow within the context of human rights advocacy.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, both spoken and written, as the intern will be required to communicate effectively with local stakeholders and assist in translation tasks. Advanced English skills are also required to engage with international colleagues and resources. Additional language skills may be considered a plus but are not mandatory.

Interns will receive a compensation of 5.50 euros per hour for their time spent in the office, along with reimbursement for 50% of their transportation costs.
