Interns will work full-time, either in-person or remotely, for a duration of six months. The primary focus of the internship is to assist the Investment Policy Research Section in monitoring and analyzing investment policies adopted by UN member states. Interns will engage in various research tasks, including conducting literature reviews, collecting and analyzing data on foreign direct investment (FDI) policies, and drafting inputs for publications. This role is crucial for informing investment policy-making that supports sustainable development and addresses emerging policy challenges. Interns will receive training and mentoring throughout their tenure, ensuring they gain valuable insights into the workings of the United Nations and the specific functions of the Investment Policy Research Section.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a range of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in conducting thematic literature reviews; collecting data on policy measures related to FDI and their impacts through desk research and surveys; analyzing data and preparing tables and charts; drafting inputs for publications prepared by the section; and carrying out other research tasks as directed by the Economic Affairs Officer or Chief of Section. Interns are also expected to observe all applicable rules and regulations of the UN, provide copies of all materials prepared during the internship, and respect the confidentiality and impartiality required of the organization. They will perform other duties as required and may be involved in organizing events such as the World Investment Forum.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet specific qualifications to be considered for the internship. They should be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level). Additionally, interns should demonstrate computer literacy in standard software applications, a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, and the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. No prior work experience is necessary for applicants to the UN Internship Programme. The program is designed to provide students and recent graduates with exposure to the workings of the United Nations and to enhance their educational experience. While no specific professional experience is required, applicants should have relevant academic training or coursework that aligns with the internship's focus on investment policy research.
