Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position within the IT Services team at the United Nations Secretariat is designed for individuals who are eager to gain practical experience in the field of information technology. The intern will work under the overall supervision of the Global IT Service Unit (GITSU) and will be involved in designing and developing applications that automate IT service tasks and workflows. This role is crucial for enhancing the efficiency of IT operations and improving service delivery through innovative technological solutions. The intern will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of applications that facilitate IT asset management, thereby gaining hands-on experience in software development and process automation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at supporting IT service operations. Key duties include designing and developing Power Apps to automate IT services tasks, implementing software tools for monitoring activities, and maintaining documentation related to system and desktop configurations. The intern will also assist in the development of applications for IT asset recording, utilizing mobile cameras and barcode scanning technology. Additionally, the intern will identify opportunities for automation within existing processes and provide recommendations for improvements. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary to support the overall objectives of the IT service operations.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the internship program, applicants must be enrolled in the final year of a first-level university degree program or a graduate school program, or have completed such a degree. Preferred fields of study include Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related disciplines. Candidates should possess proven knowledge of Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, ASP.Net, MVC with C# programming language, and SQL server experience. Skills in programming and scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, and PowerShell are considered an asset. Importantly, applicants are not required to have prior professional work experience to be eligible for this internship.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a relevant academic program, specifically in fields such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology. This educational background is essential for understanding the technical aspects of the tasks involved in the internship.

Experience:
While professional work experience is not a requirement for this internship, candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of the relevant technologies and tools used in IT service operations. Experience in database management, process automation, and application development will be beneficial and may enhance a candidate's application.

Languages:
Fluency in either English or French is required, as these are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. A working knowledge of the other language is considered an asset, enabling better communication within the diverse environment of the UN.

This internship is expected to last between 3 to 6 months, and candidates should be available to start on the date indicated in their acceptance letter. Additionally, interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of Switzerland may need to secure the appropriate visa and work authorization prior to commencing the internship.
