Job Overview: The Senior Business Intelligence Consultant will play a crucial role in developing a PowerBI dashboard that showcases the UNRWA statistics bulletin. This position is based at UNRWA Headquarters in Amman and is expected to last for fifteen weeks. The consultant will collaborate closely with the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director of Planning, the DoP Senior Statistician, and the Senior Systems Analyst, as well as the Digital Impact, Technology and Innovation Department (DITID). The primary goal is to enhance the existing dashboard to provide a more attractive and interactive experience for users, presenting key data by programme, field, and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) in a visually appealing and user-friendly manner. The consultant will be responsible for gathering requirements, assessing and preparing data, designing the dashboard, developing it, testing its functionality, and ultimately deploying it for use by both internal and external stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Business Intelligence Consultant will undertake a series of outputs over the course of the contract. The first output involves gathering and analyzing requirements, confirming the statistics to be included in the dashboard, identifying required chart types, and creating mockup designs. The second output focuses on assessing and preparing data, including reviewing and cleaning data, validating its quality, and determining an ETL process. The third output involves designing the dashboard, proposing types of maps, and determining the PowerBI environment. The fourth output is the actual development of the dashboard interface, implementing filtering options. The fifth output includes testing the dashboard's functional features, validating data, and incorporating user feedback. Finally, the sixth output involves deploying the dashboard, developing user and technical guides, and conducting training sessions for key users and administrators.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree from an accredited institution in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. They should have at least six years of progressive experience as a senior Business Intelligence developer or in a similar role, with a strong focus on SSAS, SSIS, ETLs, Cubes, Power BI, DAX, and MDX. Proven experience in developing and maintaining reports and dashboards using Microsoft PowerBI and connecting to OLAP cubes or other data sources is essential. Additionally, candidates should have experience in writing DAX and MDX expressions for Microsoft Analysis Services, knowledge of Microsoft Business Intelligence Architecture, and previous experience as an ETL developer with strong data architecture knowledge. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent teamwork, and communication skills are also required.
Educational Background: A university degree from an accredited educational institution in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary technical knowledge and skills to perform the duties associated with the role effectively.
Experience: The position requires at least six years of progressive experience in a senior Business Intelligence developer role or a similar capacity. This experience should include a strong focus on various aspects of business intelligence, including SSAS, SSIS, ETLs, Cubes, Power BI, DAX, and MDX. Candidates should have a proven track record of developing and maintaining reports and dashboards, as well as experience in data architecture and ETL processes.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. This proficiency is essential for effective communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders within the organization and for the successful execution of the role's responsibilities.
Additional Notes: The consultant will report to the Deputy Director of Planning and will work closely with the DoP Senior Statistician, the DoP Senior Systems Analyst, and DITID. The position is full-time, requiring 40 hours of work per week, and offers the flexibility to work either remotely or from the UNRWA Headquarters in Amman.
