Job Overview: The Communications Expert will play a crucial role in supporting the UN4UkrainianCities project, which aims to enhance capacity and cooperation for sustainable urban development in Ukraine. The consultant will be responsible for managing the content of the project’s website and social media platforms, ensuring that information is effectively communicated to stakeholders. This position requires a blend of skills in writing, graphic design, and social media management to create engaging content that reflects the project's objectives and outcomes. The consultant will also be involved in drafting reports, articles, and press releases, as well as designing promotional materials to support the project's visibility and outreach efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake a variety of tasks under the supervision of the UN4UkrainianCities Project Manager, including:
Website Content Management: Regularly updating the project website to ensure it reflects the latest organizational updates, events, and news. The website must be user-friendly, visually appealing, and optimized for search engines.
Public Relations: Drafting press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials to promote the project.
Social Media Management: Developing and implementing social media strategies across platforms such as Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, and LinkedIn. Creating engaging content, including posts, graphics, and videos, to increase audience engagement and reach. Monitoring social media channels, responding to inquiries, and facilitating online discussions.
Graphic Design: Designing graphics for social media posts, website banners, newsletters, templates, flyers, and other promotional materials. Ensuring consistency in branding and visual identity across all communication materials.
Content Creation: Writing articles, press releases, and content for the project website, as well as conducting interviews and producing videos to showcase project outcomes.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, digital media, graphic design, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level degree (Bachelor’s) in the specified fields with two additional years of relevant work experience (totaling 7 years) may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Additionally, a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, digital media, graphic design, or a related field is required. Candidates should provide specific examples of their roles, responsibilities, and duration of relevant experience. Furthermore, a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in website content management, social media strategy, drafting press materials, and graphic design is necessary, along with a description of the tools/platforms used and the type of content created.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, digital media, graphic design, or a related field is required. A first-level degree (Bachelor’s) in the specified fields with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, digital media, graphic design, or a related field. Additionally, at least 2 years of professional experience in website content management, social media strategy, drafting press materials, and graphic design is required. Experience in using web editing tools or updating organizational websites is also desirable, with candidates expected to describe their involvement, including platforms used and the scope of work.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Ukrainian is desirable but not required, which may enhance communication with local stakeholders and contribute to the project's objectives.
Additional Notes: The position is expected to last for 6 months. The United Nations does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process, including application, interview, or training.
