Job Overview:
The Advocacy and Communications Manager will play a crucial role in guiding NRC's advocacy efforts in Afghanistan, focusing on programmatic and rights-based advocacy. This position involves representing NRC at the INGO Advocacy Forum, ensuring that the advocacy strategy remains relevant and effective. As a member of the Country Management Group, the manager will contribute to the strategic direction of the country program and advocate for the rights and protection of vulnerable populations. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Advocacy and Communications Manager will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Leading advocacy responses to prioritized protection issues and coordinating efforts across programs.
  • Providing leadership and development opportunities for team members.
  • Ensuring coherence and synergies in advocacy efforts across different programs.
  • Conducting systematic training and capacity building for technical staff.
  • Performing protection analysis and preparing public-facing advocacy products.
  • Strategically delivering advocacy messaging through coordination with Country, Regional, and Global Representation Offices.
  • Overseeing the media strategy to enhance NRC's visibility and impact.
  • Strengthening advocacy networks and representing NRC effectively in various forums.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in humanitarian work, particularly in advocacy and communications. Essential qualifications include:
  • Experience in a coordinator, manager, or adviser role within the humanitarian sector.
  • Expertise in using advocacy and media for public engagement.
  • Understanding of policy processes related to forced displacement and humanitarian responses.
  • Familiarity with the regional context of refugees and internal displacement, particularly in Afghanistan.
  • Ability to operate effectively in complex and volatile environments.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required for this position, typically including a degree in social sciences, international relations, humanitarian studies, or a related field. Experience:
