Job Overview:
The Resettlement Associate position is crucial for supporting UNHCR's resettlement operations in Costa Rica, particularly in light of the increasing number of forcibly displaced individuals, especially from Nicaragua. The incumbent will assist in managing individual resettlement cases, ensuring compliance with resettlement policies, and coordinating with various stakeholders, including IOM and resettlement country authorities. The role involves digital archiving of resettlement files, managing case documentation, and providing individual counseling on resettlement procedures. The Resettlement Associate will also be responsible for monitoring family compositions and document statuses, scheduling interviews, and ensuring that all necessary documentation is prepared for resettlement. This position requires a proactive approach to case management and a commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of displaced persons.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Resettlement Associate include assisting with the digital archiving of resettlement files, managing individual resettlement cases, following up on pending departure cases, and coordinating with IOM for travel preparations. The incumbent will also be responsible for updating contact details in the UNHCR database, scheduling appointments with resettlement authorities, and providing individual counseling on resettlement procedures. Additional responsibilities include monitoring family compositions, coordinating the departure of accepted cases, and ensuring compliance with resettlement policies. The Resettlement Associate will also assist in preparing reports, maintaining accurate resettlement statistics, and providing administrative support for training activities related to resettlement.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have at least one year of relevant experience with a High School Diploma or a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Previous experience with resettlement activities is considered an asset. Functional skills required include computer literacy, knowledge of the Progres database, and an understanding of protection-related guidelines and standards. Candidates should demonstrate accountability, communication skills, organizational awareness, teamwork, and client orientation. The ability to handle confidential information and a commitment to continuous learning are also essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a High School Diploma or a Bachelor's degree in law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">International Law, Political Science, or a related field. Desirable education includes completion of UNHCR-specific learning or training activities, particularly in resettlement and protection.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant experience in a similar role. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree may qualify with two years of relevant work experience. Experience in resettlement activities or knowledge of UNHCR's resettlement policies and operational applications is highly desirable.

Languages:
Proficiency in Spanish at a C1 level is mandatory, while English proficiency at a B1 level is also required. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset but is not mandatory for this position.
