Job Overview: The UNFPA country office in South Africa is seeking to enhance its ICT and administrative capabilities by hiring a consultant to assist in these areas. The office has been facing significant challenges in providing ICT services, which have disrupted the delivery of essential services and hindered high-level meetings with government and partners, especially as many of these meetings have transitioned to online formats. The consultant will be engaged for a period of four months to support both administrative and ICT tasks, ensuring that the office can effectively meet its operational needs and continue to deliver on its mission. The role will involve providing day-to-day ICT maintenance and support, assisting with the digitalization of processes, and offering technical support for program integration of digital solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide ICT support to staff, including day-to-day maintenance and troubleshooting of ICT equipment. This includes setting up new computers, printers, monitors, and other devices, as well as installing and configuring necessary software applications.
Assist in the digitalization efforts of the office by reviewing and implementing UNFPA ICT policies and guidelines, designing an implementation plan for office automation projects, and contributing to training sessions for staff.
Support the integration of digital solutions into design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, implementation, and reporting, ensuring that any changes to service scope are managed effectively to minimize disruption.
Work collaboratively with staff to refine information capture forms and improve workflow processes, ensuring that the benefits of new ICT capabilities are realized and transferred to the country office for efficient program delivery.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification (NQF 7) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field. Additional certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA A+, Network+, or security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security+ are required. Relevant working experience in network administration, hardware and software management, and telecommunications is essential. Candidates should also have certifications in hardware and software management, including Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). Knowledge of PC/LAN operating systems, corporate ICT security, and enterprise resource planning systems is crucial, along with experience in implementing endpoint protection and data loss prevention tools.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field is required. Additional certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ are also necessary to demonstrate expertise in the field.
Experience: Candidates should have relevant working experience that includes network administration, support for hardware and software platforms, and telecommunications facilities. Experience in client support, such as working in a Help Desk or User Support Unit, is advantageous. Familiarity with cloud platforms and collaboration tools is also beneficial, as is experience in managing endpoint protection and data loss prevention tools.
Languages: While proficiency in English is mandatory, knowledge of one local language is desirable. This will enhance communication and support within the local context and improve service delivery to staff and stakeholders.
