Job Posting Organization:
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is a federal enterprise that has been supporting the implementation of development policy goals worldwide for over 50 years. With a mission to create a better life for all and meaningful tasks for its employees, GIZ collaborates with partner organizations in 120 countries, engaging in various projects aimed at sustainable development and international educational work. The organization is committed to environmental sustainability and aims to foster change for people in developing and emerging countries through the dedication and expertise of its employees.

Job Overview:
This position is designed for students pursuing a degree in Business Informatics with a focus on International Management for Business and Information Technology (IMBIT) at the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg (DHBW) Mannheim, set to commence in 202
  • The program combines academic studies with practical training at GIZ, leading to an internationally recognized Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree. The study program spans six semesters, alternating between theoretical coursework and practical experience within the company. Students will gain hands-on experience in GIZ's IT department, specifically in the DIGITS (Digital Transformation and IT Solutions) sector, as well as in human resources and various commercial departments. A three-month international assignment at one of GIZ's country offices will provide insight into project work on-site, with location choices made in accordance with safety and medical guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of this position include engaging in a dual study program that integrates academic learning with practical training. Students will participate in various departments, including IT, human resources, and commercial areas, gaining comprehensive exposure to GIZ's operations. The role involves completing a three-month international assignment to understand project implementation in different cultural contexts. Students will also be expected to develop their skills in IT and business processes, contribute to ongoing projects, and collaborate with teams across different departments to foster a holistic understanding of GIZ's mission and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) with a very good to good average or a very good subject-specific higher education entrance qualification or technical college entrance qualification with a Delta examination. An interest in business informatics with practical relevance is essential, along with ideally some initial IT knowledge gained through internships. Strong numerical understanding and analytical thinking skills are required, as well as good performance in mathematics. Candidates should demonstrate curiosity about an international work environment, teamwork skills, and fluency in both German and English, with basic knowledge of an additional language being desirable. Persistence, performance orientation, and results-driven mindset are also important attributes.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) or a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, with a focus on business informatics. Candidates should be prepared to meet the admission requirements set by the DHBW Mannheim, which may include specific academic performance criteria and relevant qualifications.

Experience:
While prior work experience is not mandatory, candidates are encouraged to have some initial exposure to IT through internships or related activities. This experience will help in understanding the practical applications of business informatics in an international context and will be beneficial for the dual study program.

Languages:
Fluency in German and English is mandatory for this position, both in spoken and written forms. Additionally, having basic knowledge of another language is considered advantageous and may enhance the candidate's profile, especially in an international working environment.

Additional Notes:
The position is a full-time role with a contract duration from August 5, 2026, to September 30, 202
  • Applications are accepted exclusively through the GIZ E-Recruiting system, and candidates are advised to check their spam/junk folders for confirmation emails. Required application documents include a CV, cover letter, the last two academic transcripts, and any internship certificates. An online questionnaire must also be completed. Selection days are expected to take place in autumn 202
