Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is designed to provide dedicated support to the Front Office of Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) at the EBRD. The intern will work closely with the Advisor to the Managing Director, engaging in a variety of strategic and operational tasks that are crucial for the bank's initiatives in the SSA region. This role will involve conducting market research, supporting business development efforts, managing data, and maintaining a focused database on SSA. The intern will also be responsible for drafting briefing notes, taking meeting minutes, and coordinating agendas for the Managing Director’s meetings and events. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international development, investment, and policy, while contributing to the EBRD's expanding presence in Sub-Saharan Africa. The intern will interact with colleagues at all levels within the bank, providing a rich learning environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including: conducting market and sector mapping to support the initiation of activities in Sub-Saharan Africa; collecting and analyzing data related to SSA investments; maintaining a comprehensive database of key stakeholders and relevant information; supporting business development by identifying potential clients and partners; drafting high-quality briefings and concept notes for both internal and external use; taking minutes and preparing summaries of meetings and events; contributing to the planning and organization of missions and public events; providing ad hoc support and undertaking various administrative duties as required; staying updated on economic and sectoral news across SSA and summarizing relevant developments for the team.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree and demonstrate fluency in English, with strong written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of an additional language, both written and spoken, is considered advantageous. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the financial sector or banking, ideally up to 1.5 years, particularly within an international financial institution or donor organization. Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with a keen attention to detail and the ability to build effective working relationships in a multicultural environment. The candidate should be a strong team player, capable of managing multiple assignments and working efficiently under pressure with minimal supervision.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree is required for this internship position. The degree should ideally be in a field related to finance, economics, international relations, or a similar discipline that provides a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of international development and investment.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have prior experience in the financial sector or banking, with a preference for up to 1.5 years of relevant experience. This experience should ideally include work within an international financial institution or donor organization, which would provide the necessary context and understanding of the banking environment and its operations.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of another language, both written and spoken, would be beneficial and is considered a plus for this role, as it may enhance communication with diverse stakeholders in the SSA region.
