Job Overview: As a Senior Program Manager (SPM) within the Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) team, you will play a pivotal role in managing the business operations of the team. This includes overseeing strategic planning and execution, managing the ongoing pipeline and portfolio, and ensuring effective business analytics and reporting. The SPM will be instrumental in leading key strategic projects during a transformative period for the NTD team, as the external landscape for Neglected Tropical Diseases is evolving. Reporting to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director of Strategy, Planning, and Management, the SPM will assist the NTD leadership team in identifying opportunities to enhance the impact of the business team. This position is based in Seattle, WA, and relocation assistance will be provided.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Program Manager will lead various operational processes for the NTDs, which may encompass the entire investment development process, annual planning, budget management, and forecasting. You will provide essential support to program leadership in translating strategic goals into a coherent and prioritized portfolio and investment plan. The role involves consulting with program leadership to enhance the impact of investment and financial processes, ensuring optimal learning, decision-making, and collaboration. You will proactively manage the rhythm of the business (ROB) to ensure that meetings are efficient and that the content discussed is valuable. Additionally, you will coordinate cross-team collaboration, ensuring that all team members understand their responsibilities and receive the necessary support. The SPM will drive priority projects that align with programmatic goals and facilitate process definition and improvement efforts to enhance staff productivity. You will work closely with program staff to identify and address process gaps and inefficiencies, promoting a culture of efficiency and productivity. Furthermore, you will provide critical thought partnership to the Deputy Director and the leadership team, representing the NTDs in various forums within the division and the foundation. Building and developing direct reports while fostering a high-performance, inclusive culture will also be a key responsibility.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree along with at least 7 years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate intellectual quickness, curiosity, discipline, resourcefulness, and resilience. A proven ability to work with diplomacy, flexibility, efficiency, and enthusiasm in a fast-paced and complex environment is essential. The candidate should have a track record of successfully driving clarity amidst ambiguity and navigating competing priorities. Experience in inclusive people management, coaching, and talent development is crucial, as is the ability to foster equitable and inclusive practices within the workplace. Strong judgment and the ability to handle complex issues, multiple tasks, and confidential information with discretion and attention to detail are required. The candidate should also have demonstrated experience in thought partnership and coordination with senior staff, as well as proven program and partner management skills.
