Job Overview: The position of Category A Consultant – MHPSS, PTSD, Capacity building Expert is crucial in the context of a project aimed at supporting former Ukrainian defenders and their families in Czechia. This role involves addressing the complex psychosocial and mental health needs of individuals affected by combat experiences. The consultant will be responsible for establishing a sustainable support mechanism that focuses on mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in alignment with international standards. The consultant will work closely with local service providers to enhance their capacity, improve access to services, and ensure effective referral pathways for individuals requiring specialized support. The consultant's expertise will be vital in conducting assessments, developing training materials, and facilitating coordination among stakeholders involved in MHPSS service provision.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will perform a variety of tasks, including conducting a comprehensive assessment of MHPSS services in Czechia, identifying service gaps, and making recommendations for improvements. They will supervise and develop training content for frontline workers, ensuring that the training is trauma-informed and relevant to the needs of the community. The consultant will also collaborate on the creation of manuals and informational materials for service providers, support the dissemination of these materials, and actively participate in national and regional coordination platforms. Additionally, the consultant will contribute to the development of a telebridge for MHPSS support between Ukraine and Czechia, ensuring continuity of care and cross-border collaboration. The consultant will be expected to produce a comprehensive report on MHPSS services and conduct training sessions to build capacity among local providers.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant field, such as psychology, social work, or public health. They should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in mental health and psychosocial support, particularly in contexts involving trauma and conflict. Excellent communication skills are essential, along with advanced proficiency in MS Office. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of MHPSS principles and practices, as well as experience in capacity building and training development.
Educational Background: A Master's degree is required for this position, ideally in a field related to mental health, social work, or public health. This educational background will provide the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively address the psychosocial needs of individuals affected by trauma and to contribute to the development of training materials and support mechanisms.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the field of mental health and psychosocial support. This experience should include work in trauma-informed care, capacity building, and the development of training programs. Candidates should have a proven track record of engaging with service providers and stakeholders in the mental health sector, as well as experience in conducting assessments and evaluations of mental health services.
Languages: Fluency in English and Czech is mandatory for this position, both oral and written. This requirement ensures effective communication with local stakeholders and service providers. Additionally, proficiency in IOM's official languages, which include French and Spanish, is considered an asset and may be evaluated during the selection process.
Additional Notes: The position is expected to require a minimum work engagement of 60%, with a preference for 100% engagement. Travel to various regions within the Czech Republic may be necessary as part of the role. The appointment is contingent upon funding confirmation and the candidate's medical fitness for appointment. IOM provides coverage for occupational accidents and illnesses but does not offer evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational issues.
