Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position at the C40 Cities Finance Facility (CFF) is designed to support the project team in executing technical, content-related, and organizational tasks associated with project activities. The CFF is part of the Climate-resilient Infrastructure Investments in Cities (CIVIC) program, which aims to address the critical barrier of insufficient access to finance for infrastructure projects, particularly those that tackle climate change. The intern will work closely with the CFF team located in Bonn, Berlin, Eschborn, and London, as well as with Senior Project Advisors in partner cities. The role involves assisting in the preparation and delivery of technical assistance, supporting advisory services to partner cities, and contributing to the governance of urban infrastructure planning and service delivery. The intern will also be responsible for preparing meetings, workshops, and field missions, as well as compiling presentations and communication materials for outreach and knowledge dissemination.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • Supporting the implementation of CFF activities in partner cities globally, particularly in the preparation and delivery of technical assistance.
  • Assisting in the preparation and implementation of advisory services to partner cities.
  • Collaborating with the CFF city operations team to review and standardize approaches to capacity development and technical assistance, enhancing governance in urban infrastructure planning and service delivery.
  • Managing day-to-day business tasks for the CFF.
  • Preparing meetings, workshops, and field missions, along with other necessary tasks.
  • Compiling and preparing presentations and communication materials on the CFF for outreach, knowledge generation, and dissemination.
  • Supporting the organization of events, conferences, and workshops.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in urban planning, political science, international relations, economics, geography, or related fields, with a focus on urban development, climate change, or infrastructure development/finance. Practical experience working with or for bilateral, multilateral, and other international organizations, as well as private sector institutions, including development banks and international city networks, is essential. Experience in urban development and municipal infrastructure services, along with related policy fields, is advantageous. Additionally, candidates should have experience working in developing and emerging countries, excellent communication skills for both internal and external communication, and strong partnership and collaboration skills.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes a university degree in relevant fields such as urban planning, political science, international relations, economics, geography, or similar disciplines. The focus should be on urban development, climate change, or infrastructure development/finance, ensuring that candidates have a solid foundation in these areas.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have practical experience in working with or for various international organizations, including bilateral and multilateral agencies, development banks, and private sector institutions. Experience in urban development and municipal infrastructure services is highly valued, as well as familiarity with related policy fields. Additionally, candidates should have experience working in developing and emerging countries, which will enhance their understanding of the challenges faced in these contexts.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish are mandatory for this position. Proficiency in other languages, particularly German, Portuguese, and French, is considered an advantage, as it will facilitate communication with diverse stakeholders and enhance collaboration in international settings.
