Job Overview:
The Senior Private Sector Partnerships Individual Giving Associate is a pivotal role within UNHCR's Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP), which is part of the Division of External Relations (DER). This position focuses on mobilizing resources from the private sector to support refugees through individual giving initiatives. The associate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to maximize donor acquisition, retention, and development, ensuring that UNHCR can secure regular, unrestricted donations from individuals. The role involves leading a team, managing donor communications, and overseeing fundraising campaigns across various channels, including direct mail, telemarketing, digital platforms, and face-to-face fundraising. The associate will also analyze donor data to enhance engagement and optimize fundraising efforts, contributing to the overall success of UNHCR's mission to support refugees.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior PSP Individual Giving Associate include:
  • Developing annual plans for donor acquisition, retention, and development, including forecasts of costs, income projections, and donor figures.
  • Managing donor servicing and communications to ensure best-in-class donor care, including welcome packages, thank-you letters, and newsletters.
  • Supervising the implementation of fundraising campaigns across various channels, including face-to-face, digital, and direct mail.
  • Drafting submissions to secure funding for individual giving programs and contributing to the development of detailed annual plans.
  • Overseeing donor database management, ensuring data accuracy, and providing analysis as needed.
  • Leading the development and management of face-to-face fundraising strategies and budgets.
  • Collaborating with marketing agencies to design donor journeys tailored to different segments of the database.
  • Developing and implementing donor retention communications and fundraising activities.
  • Monitoring program performance and making recommendations for improvements based on analysis of results. 1
  • Ensuring compliance with local legislation and best practices in donor care and fundraising activities.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Senior PSP Individual Giving Associate position include:
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or 2 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Essential experience in private sector fundraising, sales, client/donor communication, marketing, or journalism.
  • Proven experience in donor retention and development programs, as well as in coordinating and supervising fundraising campaigns.
  • Familiarity with fundraising databases and software is essential.
  • Desirable qualifications include experience in the non-profit sector, project management, and data analysis.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess at least a High School Diploma, with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field being preferred. Relevant certifications in these areas are also beneficial and may enhance a candidate's application.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience for candidates with a High School Diploma, or 2 years of relevant work experience for those with a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Experience should include private sector fundraising, donor communication, and campaign management, with a proven track record in donor retention and development.

Languages:
Knowledge of English is mandatory, and proficiency in the UN working language of the duty station is required if not English. For General Service jobs, knowledge of English and/or the UN working language is necessary. Knowledge of French is desirable and can be an asset in this role.
