Job Overview: The Senior Data Management Associate position is a critical role within UNHCR, responsible for overseeing all aspects of data management that support the organization's fundraising efforts. This includes managing the constituent database, data warehouse, and business intelligence (BI) applications, with a particular focus on Salesforce as the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. The role is management-level and involves supervising one direct report, the Donor Database Associate, while also managing relationships with external vendors, including data processing partners and BI providers. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of donor information systems, maintaining data integrity, performing updates and corrections, and executing reporting and segmentation tasks. This position is vital during a transitional period as the organization completes its migration to Salesforce, requiring strong leadership and technical skills to manage data effectively across the fundraising operation.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Data Management Associate include monitoring regular data entry activities, verifying the accuracy and relevance of data, preparing database backups, coordinating data transfers of refugee records, collecting GIS data, and ensuring correct data entry related to asylum seekers and refugees. The associate will develop and run reports from databases, compile data for various reports, identify knowledge and hardware gaps, and escalate unresolved issues to supervisors. Additionally, the role involves supporting risk management, decision-making based on data, and performing other related duties as required. The associate will also manage the use and maintenance of databases, oversee data collection and verification processes, and ensure compliance with data privacy laws and organizational policies.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma or 2 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Essential qualifications include proficiency in data management methodologies, database management, and computer literacy. Desirable qualifications include Microsoft SQL Server certification, knowledge of Microsoft Access, and completion of UNHCR learning programs. Candidates should also have experience working with UN or UNHCR.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess at least a High School Diploma, with a Bachelor’s degree being preferred. The educational background should include relevant training in information technology and electronic data processing, as well as familiarity with data management practices and methodologies.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience for candidates with a High School Diploma, or 2 years of relevant experience for those with a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Experience should include data management, database administration, and familiarity with fundraising operations, particularly in a non-profit or humanitarian context.
Languages: Knowledge of English is mandatory, and proficiency in the UN working language of the duty station is required if not English. For General Service jobs, knowledge of English and/or the UN working language is essential, with local language skills being advantageous.
