Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator position in Ceara is crucial for overseeing and supporting the implementation of a project aimed at assisting forcibly returned Brazilian citizens. This role involves direct coordination with the Project Coordinator based in Brasilia and entails monitoring field activities to ensure they align with established plans. The Project Coordinator will analyze challenges in project implementation and recommend adjustments to work plans as necessary. The position requires regular research and analysis of developments related to forced return and deportation, as well as engagement with local partners and stakeholders. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for preparing reports, documenting best practices, and contributing to the development of new projects, ensuring that the project meets its objectives effectively and efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma with at least six years of relevant professional experience, or a university degree in social sciences, political sciences, psychology, law, public policy, health, or a related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of four years of experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates should have a thorough understanding of IOM's mandate and activities in the migration context in Brazil, as well as experience in project management, particularly with government or UN agencies, civil society, or international organizations.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma or a university degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, political sciences, psychology, law, public policy, or health. The degree must be from an accredited academic institution, and candidates with a high school diploma must have significant professional experience in relevant areas.
Experience:
Candidates should have substantial working experience in a migration context, particularly in project management. Experience with governmental or UN agencies, civil society, or international organizations is essential. Familiarity with IOM's policies and procedures, as well as prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, is highly advantageous. Experience in liaising with governmental authorities and other stakeholders is also important.
Languages:
The mandatory languages for this position are Portuguese and English, both at an advanced level. Knowledge of Spanish at an advanced level is considered advantageous. Proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes:
This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Brazil will be eligible for consideration. The appointment will be contingent upon medical fitness certification and verification of residency and visa requirements. - Monitor field activities to ensure adherence to established plans and timelines.
- Analyze challenges in project implementation and propose adjustments to work plans.
- Conduct research and compile data on national, regional, and international developments related to forced return and deportation.
- Liaise with local partners, stakeholders, and authorities to ensure effective project execution.
- Participate in relevant meetings and conferences as directed by the Project Coordinator.
- Prepare internal and external reports, project updates, and official documents.
- Document good practices and lessons learned, contributing to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.
- Support the development of new projects and perform other related tasks as required.
