Job Overview: The Corporate Fundraising and Engagement Officer will work under the guidance of the Fundraising Manager and in close coordination with the Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) team. The primary responsibility of this position is to support the development and implementation of an integrated fundraising and engagement strategy aimed at the corporate sector. This strategy will leverage the strengths of the corporate sector to raise funds and support for UNICEF, including initiatives like Business Engagement and Child Rights (BECR). The incumbent will explore ways for the corporate sector to enhance UNICEF’s visibility and expand its individual donor base, ultimately raising more sustainable and flexible funding. The role requires collaboration with various sections of the office to align program objectives with private sector engagement, ensuring that fundraising efforts are effectively integrated into UNICEF's broader mission.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties of the Corporate Fundraising and Engagement Officer include supporting the development of a strategic engagement and fundraising plan for the corporate sector, which encompasses marketing, advertising, and budget development activities. The officer will contribute to the preparation of the annual activity plan related to corporate engagement and fundraising, establishing key priorities and performance indicators. Responsibilities also include identifying and developing new corporate partnerships, negotiating financial and non-financial engagements, and maintaining relationships with existing partners to maximize partnership potential. The officer will continuously seek innovative ideas to enhance corporate fundraising efforts, participate in the implementation of the strategy and annual plan, analyze and measure the impact of actions, and coordinate with other areas of the office to ensure alignment in achieving corporate fundraising objectives. Additionally, the officer will assist in planning and executing integrated campaigns that engage the private sector and raise UNICEF’s brand awareness.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a university degree in Business Administration, Management Sciences, Economics, Public Relations, or related fields. A specialization in Marketing, Private Sector Fundraising, or Sales is desirable. Candidates should have a minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in private sector fundraising, corporate alliance development, or strategic marketing projects. Demonstrated expertise in prospecting, proposal presentation, objection handling, and closing sales with senior executives is essential. Having a network of contacts with private sector business owners and executives is a plus, and experience in an international organization or NGO will be considered an asset.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Management Sciences, Economics, or Public Relations. A specialization in related areas like Marketing or Private Sector Fundraising is highly desirable, indicating a strong foundation in the principles necessary for effective fundraising and corporate engagement.
Experience: The role requires at least one year of relevant professional experience in private sector fundraising, corporate alliance development, or strategic marketing projects. Candidates should have a proven track record of engaging with senior executives and successfully closing sales or alliances.
