Job Overview:
The Driver position is crucial for the smooth operation of the ILO's Country Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, specifically in Moscow. The incumbent will provide reliable and safe driving services to the Office Director and other officials, ensuring the highest standards of discretion and integrity. This role requires the ability to manage multiple tasks, including arranging airport VIP services and customs clearances for high-level delegations. The Driver will also be responsible for maintaining the vehicle in good condition, ensuring all necessary documentation is available, and assisting with clerical tasks as needed. The position demands a proactive approach to planning and organizing workload while adapting to changing priorities and deadlines, which directly impacts the efficiency of mail delivery and transportation services within the office.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for the following key duties:
  • Provide safe and reliable driving services for the Office Director, senior officials, and authorized personnel.
  • Meet officials and visitors at the airport, assisting with protocol, visa, and customs formalities as necessary.
  • Deliver and collect mail, documents, and other items efficiently.
  • Ensure cost savings through proper vehicle use and maintenance, including keeping daily vehicle logs and preparing maintenance plans.
  • Conduct minor repairs and arrange for major repairs of the assigned vehicle, ensuring it is clean and in good running condition.
  • Maintain all required documents and supplies in the vehicle, including insurance, registration, and first aid kits.
  • Schedule drivers and vehicles for daily use when appropriate.
  • Inform the supervisor of vehicle registrations and insurance procedures in a timely manner.
  • Assist office staff with filing, photocopying, and maintaining stores. 1
  • Manage the mailing, collection, and distribution of documents and publications. 1
  • Arrange payment for office bills and perform data entry duties as required. 1
  • Carry out other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications:
  • Completion of secondary school education.
  • A valid and clean driving license.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant work experience with a proven safe driving record.
  • Experience driving for a UN agency, diplomatic, or international organization is preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of local driving rules and regulations, as well as local roads and conditions.
  • Skills in minor vehicle repair and knowledge of chauffeur protocol and courtesies.

  • Basic computer skills for recording information in IT systems.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary school education, which provides the foundational knowledge necessary for the role. A valid and clean driving license is also mandatory, ensuring that the candidate is legally permitted to operate a vehicle in the duty station.

Experience:
Candidates should possess a minimum of three years of relevant work experience, specifically in driving roles. A safe driving record is essential, and experience with a UN agency, diplomatic, or international organization is highly desirable. This experience ensures that the candidate is familiar with the expectations and protocols associated with driving high-level officials and managing transportation logistics effectively.

Languages:
The position requires a working knowledge of an official national language of the duty station, which is Russian, along with proficiency in English. This bilingual capability is essential for effective communication with both local authorities and international staff.

Additional Notes:
This is a fixed-term contract position based in Moscow, Russia. The entry-level salary for this position is 1,151,106 Russian Roubles yearly.
