Job Overview:
The Information Analyst position at ACAPS is crucial for supporting the analytical workstreams of the East Africa Analysis Hub. The role involves leading and contributing to the development of analytical products, monitoring the humanitarian crisis context, and identifying analysis gaps. The analyst will engage with various stakeholders in Ethiopia to ensure that the analysis produced is relevant and timely. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Information Analyst will be responsible for conducting secondary data analysis and crisis monitoring, which includes reviewing assessments and reports on humanitarian crises in Ethiopia to identify information gaps. The analyst will contribute to the maintenance of information management systems and ensure that the needs for information are met efficiently. This includes managing ACAPS' internal monitoring tracking sheet and ensuring that crisis monitoring informs the design of analytical products. Additionally, the analyst will lead the design and delivery of multi-sector and thematic analytical products, coordinating with other teams within ACAPS for technical support. The role also involves conducting key informant interviews with humanitarian responders and experts, ensuring adherence to ACAPS standards. Furthermore, the analyst will support the expansion of ACAPS' network in Nairobi, identifying opportunities for outreach and collaboration with regional stakeholders and humanitarian working groups.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research methods, with the ability to handle large datasets effectively. Excellent written communication skills are essential, particularly the ability to analyze complex concepts and synthesize information clearly. A minimum of three years of relevant experience in research, analysis, information management, or advocacy within the humanitarian sector or related fields is required. The candidate should demonstrate a solid understanding of emergency preparedness and response principles, as well as experience in needs assessments during humanitarian crises. Building and maintaining professional networks is crucial, along with previous experience working in the humanitarian context in Ethiopia and East Africa. Fluency in written and spoken English and Amharic is mandatory, while knowledge of other local languages spoken in East Africa, such as Somali, is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
A relevant Master’s degree is required, preferably in fields such as humanitarian action, social sciences (including anthropology, sociology, economics, political science, psychology, geography), area studies, international relations, public health, or epidemiology. This educational background should provide the necessary theoretical foundation for understanding the complexities of humanitarian crises and the analytical skills needed for the role.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have at least three years of experience in research, analysis, information management, or advocacy, specifically within the humanitarian sector or related fields. This experience should include practical knowledge of working in crisis contexts, particularly in East Africa, and familiarity with the challenges faced by humanitarian responders in the region.

Languages:
Fluency in both written and spoken English and Amharic is mandatory for this position. Additionally, proficiency in other local languages spoken in East Africa, such as Somali, is considered advantageous and may enhance the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders in the region.

Additional Notes:
The position is a national contract with a duration from ASAP until December 2025, with the possibility of renewal. It is a full-time role, and while the duty station is primarily in Nairobi, there may be opportunities for remote work or travel to other locations such as the United Kingdom and Jordan.
