Job Overview: The IG Tech & Ops Lead position is a critical role within the Private Partnerships Division (PSP) of WFP, focusing on leading the Fundraising Tech & Operations Team. This role is designed to enhance the fundraising capabilities of WFP by managing a team responsible for developing and growing individual giving initiatives. The successful candidate will oversee the implementation of new fundraising strategies, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. The position requires a visionary leader who can navigate the complexities of fundraising across different regulatory landscapes and digital platforms, ensuring that fundraising innovations are feasible, scalable, and legally sound. The IG Tech & Ops Lead will work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline operations and enhance the overall efficiency of fundraising efforts, contributing to WFP's mission of achieving Zero Hunger.
Duties and Responsibilities: The IG Tech & Ops Lead will be responsible for leading a cross-functional team of over 10 specialists in operations, compliance, technology, and product development. Key responsibilities include:
Leading and developing the team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Overseeing the delivery of digital products and operational workflows, ensuring successful outcomes.
Managing a $7M annual budget for individual giving fundraising activities.
Planning and executing fundraising operations in new countries and channels, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to maximize efficiency and innovation in fundraising operations.
Identifying and mitigating operational, financial, and data privacy risks related to fundraising activities.
Advocating for strategic priorities during periods of growth and organizational change.
Ensuring alignment with WFP’s overarching strategy and fostering partnerships with key stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in a relevant discipline or a first university degree with additional years of related work experience. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in fundraising operations or related fields is required. Experience in leading teams in IT product-based or digital-first environments is essential, along with a proven track record of project management and delivering IT-based solutions. Familiarity with digital fundraising platforms, CRM systems, and data privacy regulations is highly valued. Strong leadership skills and the ability to adapt management styles to meet the needs of team members are crucial for success in this role.
Educational Background: A university degree in a relevant field is required. Candidates with a first university degree and additional years of related work experience or training will also be considered. The educational background should ideally include coursework or training related to fundraising operations, marketing" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">digital marketing, or project management.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 10 years of progressive experience in fundraising operations or related fields, with a strong emphasis on leading teams in IT-driven environments. Experience at the international level, particularly within UN agencies or humanitarian organizations, is desirable. Candidates should also have experience in managing multi-vendor projects and coordinating delivery in enterprise production environments.
Languages: Excellent command of spoken and written English is mandatory. Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language would be a plus, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
Additional Notes: This position is a short-term contract for 11 months, classified as a Regular Consultant (CST-2). The role is based at WFP's headquarters in Rome, Italy.
