Job Overview: The Analyst position is integral to the implementation and strategic development of Star Venture, EBRD's flagship early-stage startup programme aimed at supporting high-potential startups in emerging markets. Launched in 2019, Star Venture has partnered with over 400 startups, helping them raise more than EUR 570 million in external funding. The Analyst will be involved in all phases of the project cycle, including origination, structuring, execution, implementation, and monitoring. This role requires a proactive approach to managing ongoing operations and contributing to the programme's growth, including geographic and product expansion. The Analyst will work closely with the Operation Leader and senior bankers, undertaking tasks such as due diligence, analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis, and project monitoring, while also enhancing the programme's connections with other EBRD investment activities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Analyst will be responsible for various tasks under the guidance of the Operation Leader or senior bankers, including:
Structuring and Execution: Collaborating with project teams on transactions and programme implementation, conducting comprehensive research and analysis, engaging with startups and stakeholders, evaluating risks, and assisting in business development activities to generate a pipeline of high-quality startups.
Portfolio Monitoring, Value Creation, and Reporting: Undertaking tasks related to project implementation and monitoring, preparing draft monitoring reports, and assisting with donor-funded assignments.
Business Development: Supporting business development activities, including introductions to relevant stakeholders and contributing to innovative product development for startups. The Analyst's responsibilities will evolve, allowing for increased complexity and scope based on experience and expertise.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant fields. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are desirable. Strong quantitative and numerical skills are critical, along with the ability to interpret financial information and design financial models. Candidates should have credit analysis skills, project management capabilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial analysis tools. Excellent writing skills and the ability to work effectively in a team under pressure are essential. Good written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory, while proficiency in the local language is advantageous.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree or equivalent experience in relevant areas. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are also desirable, indicating a strong foundation in finance and investment analysis.
Experience: Relevant professional experience in startup acceleration, venture capital, investment banking, private equity, consulting, or related fields is required. Candidates should have a strong understanding of startup ecosystems and venture financing, along with experience working with startups and engaging with key stakeholders such as accelerators and venture capitalists. Familiarity with EBRD’s strategic startup priority areas, such as green economy and fintech, is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, with good written and oral communication skills required. Proficiency in the local language is considered an advantage, enhancing the Analyst's ability to engage with local stakeholders and clients effectively.
