Job Overview:

The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Policy Officer (RAM) and will be involved in supporting the implementation and monitoring of WFP activities in the Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions. The position is open only to Ukrainian nationals or residents with a legal work permit, emphasizing WFP's commitment to supporting local communities affected by the war.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the Programme Unit's objectives, including:
  • Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of WFP activities in the designated regions, ensuring that programs are delivered effectively and efficiently.
  • Gathering and analyzing data related to program activities to inform decision-making and improve program outcomes.
  • Documenting lessons learned from ongoing activities to enhance future programming and share best practices.
  • Supporting the preparation of mission plans by the RAM team and reviewing distribution plans from cooperating partners (CPs).
  • Conducting random checks of school reports and performing spot visits to schools to assess program impact and compliance.
  • Assisting the Programme Unit with additional tasks as required, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this internship must meet the following qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a university degree program, having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies, or a recent graduate (within six months of graduation).
  • Attendance in university courses within the last 12 months is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with design/editing/social media software and tools is essential.
  • Strong communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and the ability to work independently and proactively based on guidance are crucial.
  • Attention to detail, solid data management and analysis skills, and the ability to report effectively are necessary for success in this role.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes being currently enrolled in a university degree program or having recently graduated. Candidates should have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies, which provides a foundational understanding of relevant subjects. Additionally, candidates must have attended university courses within the last 12 months to ensure they are up-to-date with current academic knowledge and practices.

Experience:
While prior experience is not mandatory, having at least one month of internship-related experience will be considered an advantage. This experience can provide candidates with a better understanding of the humanitarian sector and the operational aspects of food assistance programs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software is expected, as well as the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Ukrainian is mandatory for this position, with a proficiency level of C. This requirement ensures that the intern can communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders in both languages, which is essential for the successful implementation of WFP programs in Ukraine. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered a plus but is not required.
