Job Overview: The intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern position at UNDP Mongolia is designed for individuals who are creative, dynamic, and eager to enhance their skills in digital communications. The intern will work closely with the UNDP Communications Analyst and the Programme team to strengthen UNDP Mongolia's digital presence. This role is ideal for someone who is familiar with modern communication strategies, digital media, and public relations. The intern will be expected to adopt a proactive approach, demonstrating professional curiosity and a willingness to learn about development issues relevant to Mongolia. Strong English and Mongolian language skills are essential, as the intern will need to convey complex information in a clear and impactful manner. The position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital communications while contributing to UNDP's mission in Mongolia.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the guidance of the Communications Analyst, including: maintaining and updating the UNDP Mongolia website in both English and Mongolian; developing engaging social media content to enhance the reach and engagement of UNDP Mongolia's channels; managing social media platforms such as Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube, ensuring that content is approved by the Communications Analyst; preparing and disseminating daily media briefings in English based on local news; writing and distributing bi-monthly newsletters for the Country Office; providing monthly social media analytics; attending internal meetings to contribute to the planning and monitoring of communications activities; and offering administrative and logistical support for online and in-person meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements: be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program (such as a master’s program or higher); be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (such as a bachelor’s degree or equivalent); have recently graduated with a university degree and must start the internship within one year of graduation; or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program. While professional work experience is not required, experience in digital and social media communications is highly desired. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate extracurricular activities that reflect their interests in international development, such as gender equality or human rights, and showcase their communication skills.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes enrollment in a postgraduate degree program or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree program. Recent graduates are also eligible, provided they start the internship within one year of graduation. Candidates enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program may also apply, as long as the internship is part of their program. The field of study is not strictly defined, but a background in communications, media, international relations, or related fields would be beneficial.
Experience: While applicants are not required to have professional work experience, any experience in administrative roles or development work is considered advantageous. Experience in digital and social media communications is particularly valued, as it aligns with the responsibilities of the internship. Additional Notes: This internship can be completed as part of national service obligations or a postgraduate professional traineeship program. UNDP will provide a stipend of USD 223.07 per month for in-person internships, in accordance with UNDP's Internship policy. All other expenses related to the internship will be the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring entity. Interns are expected to work full-time, although flexibility is allowed for educational commitments. It is important to note that interns are not eligible to apply for or be appointed to any post in UNDP during their internship period and are not considered staff members. Selected interns must provide proof of education enrollment or graduation, as well as medical and life insurance valid for the internship location. UNDP does not guarantee employment following the internship.
