Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is part of the project "Promotion of Climate-Friendly Cooking: Kenya and Senegal," which aims to promote the use of Improved Cookstoves (ICS) as a sustainable alternative to traditional biomass cooking methods. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the preparation and organization of closure events for the project, which will take place at both national and international levels. The intern will also contribute to the development of publications and communication products based on the project's lessons learned, assisting in the preparation of closure reports for the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). This role offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into the energy and climate sector, particularly in relation to climate mitigation and adaptation efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Supporting the preparation and organization of closure events for the project at national levels in Kenya and Senegal, as well as at an international global conference.
Contributing to the preparation of publications and communication products based on the project's lessons learned report and knowledge products.
Assisting in the preparation of project closure reports for GCF and BMZ, incorporating insights from all executing entities and implementing partners.
Supporting the implementation of the global component focused on knowledge creation and exchange within the energy and climate sector.
Strengthening networking with national and international stakeholders in the energy and climate sphere.
Assisting in the project's evaluation process.
Coordinating cooperation with the GIZ Energy Working Group Taskforce.
Assisting in the development and design of communication and knowledge products, as well as supporting knowledge management and institutional learning for the project.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should have at least 2 years of university studies in Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Communication, or a related interdisciplinary field, with a focus on climate, energy, and communication. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively and build relationships. Initial hands-on experience in communications, such as event support and content development, is desirable, and familiarity with Adobe InDesign is considered an asset. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) is required, and experience with MS Teams is a plus. An interest in development aid cooperation is also desirable.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should be currently enrolled as a student or have graduated no longer than six months prior to the start of the internship. A background in Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Communication, or a related interdisciplinary field is essential, with a focus on climate and energy.
Experience: Previous experience in the areas of energy, climate, or safeguarding, particularly with a focus on Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) or Clean Cooking initiatives, is an asset. Additionally, prior experience in international aid and/or development work is desirable, providing the candidate with a relevant context for the internship.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of German and French is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a diverse working environment.
