Job Overview:
The Livelihood and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food Security Technical Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting NRC’s Collaboration Across Societies for Peace, Inclusion, and Resilience project, along with other livelihoods initiatives as required. This position involves significant fieldwork, with approximately 90% of the time spent in the community. The Technical Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Livelihoods & Food Security Officer, contributing to the implementation of various programs aimed at enhancing food security and livelihoods for vulnerable populations. The role requires a proactive approach to community engagement, data collection, and reporting, ensuring that the needs of beneficiaries are effectively addressed through tailored interventions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Livelihood and Food Security Technical Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: conducting needs assessments and focus group discussions, facilitating community mobilization activities, and performing door-to-door visits to potential beneficiary households. The assistant will explain project methodologies and beneficiary selection criteria to community members, supervise data collection efforts, and monitor the daily implementation of activities across different sites. Additionally, the assistant will respond to beneficiary inquiries and complaints, report on project performance, and coordinate with community stakeholders. The role also involves conducting household-level monitoring and evaluation activities, preparing and distributing memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and agreements, and ensuring that all monitoring activities are completed on time, with lessons learned documented and shared.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Livelihood and Food Security Technical Assistant position should possess a minimum of three years of experience in a similar role within a humanitarian or recovery context, preferably with international NGOs or in the private sector. Additionally, one to two years of experience in the agriculture sector is required. Candidates should demonstrate fluency in Arabic and have a good understanding of the English language. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is essential, along with experience in community engagement and overseeing data collection activities.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in fields such as economics, business administration, or agriculture is required for this position. Candidates should have a solid educational foundation that supports their ability to implement agricultural projects and conduct soft skills training effectively.
Experience:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a humanitarian or recovery context, with a focus on livelihoods and food security. Experience in the agriculture sector, community mobilization, and data collection is highly desirable. Previous work in complex and volatile environments will be an advantage, as it demonstrates the candidate's ability to navigate challenges effectively.
Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory for this position, as it is essential for effective communication with beneficiaries and community members. A good understanding of the English language is also required, as it may be necessary for reporting and coordination with international teams.
