Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
The consultant must possess a master's degree in relevant fields such as economics, sustainable development, program management, strategic planning, or business administration. A minimum of 10 years of experience in evaluating international development programs and strategies is required, particularly in contexts similar to Gabon. The consultant should have a deep understanding of UN systems, development cooperation frameworks, and issues related to the SDGs. Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, along with excellent writing abilities for producing clear and persuasive reports, are essential.
Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a master's degree in one of the following areas: economics, sustainable development, program management, strategic planning, or business administration. This educational background is critical for understanding the complexities of development evaluation and the strategic planning processes involved in international cooperation.
Experience:
The position requires at least 10 years of professional experience in evaluating international development programs and strategies. This experience should include working in similar contexts to Gabon, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities in development evaluation. Familiarity with UN systems and frameworks is highly advantageous.
Languages:
Fluency in both English and French is mandatory, as these are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. The consultant must demonstrate proficiency in both written and spoken forms of these languages to effectively communicate findings and recommendations.
Additional Notes:
The position is expected to last for 20 days, focusing on the mid-term evaluation of the UNSDCF. The consultant will work in Libreville, Gabon, and will not incur any fees during the recruitment process, as the United Nations does not charge applicants at any stage.
