Job Overview:
The Investment Officer position within the Financial Institution Group (FIG) at IFC is a critical role that involves overseeing a diverse portfolio of investment projects across various sectors, including microfinance, SME, gender, climate, insurance, capital markets, and housing. The officer will be responsible for leading the supervision of multiple portfolio projects, which may include restructurings, capital increases, and equity sales. The role requires a strong understanding of regional markets and investment structures, as well as the ability to develop and implement innovative financial solutions. The Investment Officer will also play a key role in building relationships with clients and partners, contributing to the growth and development of projects in the region, and supporting the overall strategy of FIG Europe.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Investment Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: leading the portfolio supervision of multiple projects, conducting credit and risk assessments, performing financial projections, and ensuring compliance with covenants. The officer will supervise the quality of portfolio reporting and risk ratings prepared by junior staff, lead the execution of investment projects, and develop innovative financial structures for transactions. Additionally, the officer will build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners, support FIG Europe strategy development, collaborate with industry teams on joint ventures, coordinate with internal support units, and mentor junior staff on investment officer work.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an MBA or an equivalent master's degree in finance or management, along with at least 7 years of relevant experience in finance. A proven track record in sourcing, structuring, and closing investments, as well as managing a portfolio of debt and equity investments, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of industry trends and local issues, possess strong financial and credit skills, and have the ability to structure and manage various financial instruments. Business development skills and the ability to interact with clients and government officials are also required.

Educational Background:
The position requires an MBA or equivalent master's degree in finance or management. This educational background is crucial for understanding complex financial instruments and investment strategies, as well as for effectively managing client relationships and project execution.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 7 years of experience in finance, with a strong emphasis on sourcing, structuring, and closing investments. Experience in active portfolio management of both debt and equity investments is critical, along with a demonstrated understanding of industry trends and local market dynamics.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in any other European languages will be considered a strong advantage. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for effective interaction with clients and stakeholders.
