Job Overview: The position of International Cryptocurrency Expert is crucial for the UNDP's EDMITE II Project, which aims to strengthen democratic resilience in Moldova. The expert will be responsible for providing specialized knowledge and insights into cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, advising on regulatory frameworks, and developing strategies to integrate these technologies into the project’s objectives. The role requires a deep understanding of the cryptocurrency landscape, including market trends, risks, and opportunities, as well as the ability to communicate complex concepts to stakeholders. The expert will work closely with UNDP teams and local partners to ensure that the implementation of cryptocurrency initiatives aligns with the project’s goals and contributes to the overall development strategy of Moldova.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on cryptocurrency trends, regulations, and best practices globally and within Moldova.
Develop and propose a strategic framework for the integration of cryptocurrency into the EDMITE II Project.
Provide technical assistance and guidance to UNDP staff and local stakeholders on cryptocurrency-related matters.
Facilitate workshops and training sessions to enhance understanding of cryptocurrency among project partners.
Collaborate with legal and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with national and international laws regarding cryptocurrency.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of cryptocurrency initiatives on project outcomes and provide recommendations for improvement.
Prepare detailed reports and presentations on findings and recommendations for UNDP management and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
Proven expertise in cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, and digital finance.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment.
Familiarity with the regulatory landscape surrounding cryptocurrencies in Moldova and internationally.
Strong project management skills and experience in implementing technology-driven initiatives.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in blockchain technology or cryptocurrency will be considered an asset. Continuous professional development in the field of digital finance is highly desirable.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field of cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, or digital finance is required. Experience working with international organizations or development projects is preferred. Proven track record of successfully implementing technology initiatives in a development context is an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Romanian and/or Russian is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance project implementation.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as an individual contractor role under the procurement process of UNDP. The contract duration will be determined based on project needs and the successful candidate's availability.
