Job Overview: The Programme Policy Officer (Activity Manager) will play a crucial role in supporting the policy and program activities of the WFP, specifically focusing on food assistance needs. This position is vital for the effective implementation of various programs, including relief, nutrition, school feeding, and resilience-building activities. The officer will work under the direct supervision of the Head of Programme and will be responsible for managing day-to-day program implementation, ensuring that activities are designed, monitored, and executed efficiently. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including local authorities and partners, to ensure that WFP's operations align with corporate assurance benchmarks and meet the needs of the communities served. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Policy Officer (Activity Manager) include but are not limited to:
Contributing to the field office program unit by implementing relief, nutrition, school feeding, and resilience-building activities, as well as cross-functional activities related to RAM, PGAAP, and CBT.
Managing the day-to-day implementation of programs, which includes supporting WFP operations through activity design, implementation, monitoring, and budget management.
Developing and implementing guidance and standard operating procedures (SoPs) for all activities and field-office processes.
Ensuring that the field office adheres to assurance standards across monitoring, targeting, prioritization, CP management, CBT assurance, and PGAAP/UCM to meet corporate benchmarks.
Supporting the capacity development of WFP Field Office staff and cooperating partners, identifying training needs, and organizing orientation sessions for program staff and partners.
Assisting in emergency response efforts, including engagement with local authorities and partners.
Representing WFP in sub-national coordination forums with other stakeholders as required.
Managing, motivating, and developing the field office program team, providing coaching, training, and career guidance to ensure high performance and appropriate development.
Performing other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Programme Policy Officer (Activity Manager) position include a University Degree or Advanced University Degree in international relations, political or economic science, business administration, or other relevant academic areas. Candidates should possess at least one year of postgraduate professional experience in program implementation and project management. Desired experiences include familiarity with humanitarian or development settings, particularly in designing, implementing, and managing humanitarian activities, as well as establishing institutional partnerships and relationships with key local stakeholders. Technical skills such as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software are also essential for this role.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a University Degree or Advanced University Degree in relevant fields such as international relations, political or economic science, business administration, or other related academic disciplines. Experience: The position requires at least one year of postgraduate professional experience in program implementation and project management. Candidates with experience in humanitarian or development settings will be preferred, particularly those who have designed, implemented, and managed humanitarian activities and have established partnerships with local stakeholders. Languages: Fluency in both oral and written English is mandatory for this position, as it is essential for communication within the organization and with external stakeholders.
