Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is within the International Trade and Integration Division of ECLAC, located in Santiago, Chile. The internship is expected to last between 3 to 6 months, depending on the needs of the office. The intern will assist the team in research activities related to infrastructure, transport, and logistics services. The role is designed to provide practical experience in economic affairs, allowing the intern to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting. Daily responsibilities will vary based on the intern's background and the duration of the internship, providing a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful work that contributes to the mission of ECLAC.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the research and analytical functions of the division. Duties may include compiling, researching, and gathering information from diverse sources; collecting and organizing data; processing data and statistics; identifying, interpreting, analyzing, and formatting data and statistics; summarizing relevant material and drafting reports; attending and summarizing conferences and meetings; preparing input for electronic databases and the internet; creating charts, graphs, and other outputs for reporting and presentation of various data; and building special data sets for specific research needs or reports. These responsibilities are designed to enhance the intern's skills in data analysis and research methodologies while contributing to the overall objectives of the division.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, applicants must have a field of study closely related to the internship they are applying for. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Excel, to effectively perform the duties of the internship.
Educational Background: The basic educational requirement for this internship is a high school diploma. However, applicants must also be enrolled in or have completed a bachelor's degree, master's degree, or Ph.D. program. The internship is particularly suited for students in their final year of study or those who have recently graduated, as it provides an opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a professional setting. Proof of enrollment or completion of the relevant academic program must be provided with the application.
