Job Overview:
The REDDIG Network Administrator will be responsible for managing the technical operation of the South American Digital Network (REDDIG), ensuring optimum efficiency and providing assistance to network nodes. The role involves coordinating with communication service providers, managing network settings, and preparing reports on network administration. The administrator will also support the establishment of policies for spare parts and coordinate with states on administrative aspects related to network operation. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and effective communication with various stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of ICAO policies and standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the technical operation of the REDDIG network, including VSAT and MPLS, ensuring efficiency and resolving operational issues.
  • Coordinate with communication service providers for the introduction of new services and interconnections.
  • Follow up with satellite segment providers and assist technical staff in network operations.
  • Maintain the system database and prepare monthly reports on network activities.
  • Support the establishment of spare part policies and coordinate with states on administrative aspects of network operation.
  • Prepare annual activity reports and budget proposals for the REDDIG administration.
  • Implement ICAO plans and SARPs using the REDDIG platform for ATM purposes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Essential qualifications include a university degree in Electronic Engineering with a specialization in telecommunications, along with ten years of professional experience in managing digital networks, particularly VSAT and MPLS. Candidates should have experience in network installation, database management, and knowledge of industry regulations. Desirable qualifications include familiarity with ICAO administrative procedures and experience in handling CDI projects.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Electronic Engineering, specifically with a focus on telecommunications. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of network management and operation.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of ten years of professional experience in the management, operation, and maintenance of digital networks, particularly those involving VSAT and MPLS technologies. Candidates should have held a superior-level position in network administration and possess knowledge of logistics management and reporting.

Languages:
Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish is essential, along with a working knowledge of English and Portuguese. A working knowledge of additional languages such as Arabic, Chinese, French, or Russian is desirable but not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This position is fixed-term for an initial period of one year, with the first year serving as a probationary period for external candidates. ICAO staff members are expected to conduct themselves as international civil servants and may be assigned to various activities or offices within the organization. The compensation package includes a net base salary of 70,212 USD per annum, plus a post adjustment of 92,380 USD per annum, subject to change. The statutory retirement age for staff entering service after January 1, 2014, is 65 years.
