Job Overview:
The Light Vehicle Driver will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of authorized personnel and general cargo goods. The incumbent will be responsible for driving light vehicles, maintaining them in good condition, and performing minor repairs as needed. This position requires a strong understanding of driving regulations and safety protocols, as well as the ability to navigate the local area effectively. The driver will also be responsible for logging official trips and ensuring compliance with all relevant rules and regulations. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Light Vehicle Driver will be responsible for the following duties:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid National driver's license and demonstrate knowledge of driving rules and regulations. A strong understanding of the local area and current road conditions is essential. The ideal candidate will exhibit good judgment, professionalism, and a commitment to gender equality in the workplace. The ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines is also required.
Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Candidates must hold a valid National driver's license, specifically categories B, C, D, and G, to operate the vehicles assigned to them.
Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience in providing driver services is required. Candidates should have a proven safe driving record and experience driving various makes and models of light passenger vehicles. Experience operating heavy equipment for complex projects is considered an advantage, although not mandatory.
Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official United Nations language, such as French, is advantageous and may enhance a candidate's application.
Additional Notes:
This position is temporarily available for six months. If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment. For external candidates, it will be a Temporary Appointment. The position is subject to local recruitment, meaning that candidates must be based at the duty station and will not be eligible for international recruitment benefits. - Safely drive light vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and general cargo.
- Collect and deliver parcels, documents, and other items between offices and institutions.
- Conduct day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicles, including checking oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires.
- Perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs as necessary, ensuring vehicles are kept clean.
- Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, and greasing.
- Follow procedures in case of accidents, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Meet official personnel at the airport and assist with transportation needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
