The SPO will focus on enhancing immunization uptake for various diseases, strengthening surveillance systems, and improving immunization delivery systems and capacities. This role requires planning, capacity building, supportive supervision, monitoring, and stakeholder engagement to boost immunization coverage and health performance in routine immunization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Project Officer will ensure that all program reports and related documentation are written, collated, and reviewed to meet high-quality standards for submission to donors. The SPO will provide direct mentoring, monitoring, and supervision to Community Based Organization (CBO) staff, conducting monitoring and supportive supervisory visits to various wards and settlements in the Local Government Areas (LGAs) where the project is implemented. Active engagement with CBO partners will be essential to craft program strategies using the SIA calendar, REW micro plans, and annual and quarterly work plans. The SPO will ensure that all hard-to-reach and international border settlements are included during Immunization Plus Days (IPDs) and will participate fully in all pre-IPD, IPD, and post-IPD activities and campaigns. The SPO will analyze periodic LQAS reports and provide feedback to the Program Manager on the CGPP LGA(s). Technical support will be provided to CBO staff to ensure high-quality social mobilization and community mobilization activities aimed at facilitating demand creation for polio, routine immunization, and GHSA services. The SPO will collaborate with CBO staff and community volunteers to track and follow up on all program participants, ensuring that knowledge of the project portfolios' Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) plan is disseminated to CBOs. The SPO will supervise partner CBO operations, ensuring that all partners understand program priorities and promote buy-in from stakeholders. The role also involves liaising with state actors to ensure coordination and implementation of RI, Polio, and GHSA activities, acting as the primary liaison between the project and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and state government officials. The SPO will attend all relevant meetings and report back on the information shared, ensuring good coordination with UNICEF on community activities and service delivery at facilities.
