Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
The internship is located within the Human Resources Administration Team of the Human Resources Section (HRS) at the Executive Office of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), which is part of the United Nations Secretariat. OCHA was established to bring together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to emergencies. Its mission is to mobilize and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors to alleviate human suffering during disasters and emergencies. OCHA advocates for the rights of people in need, promotes preparedness and prevention, and facilitates sustainable solutions. The organization operates globally, engaging with various stakeholders to enhance humanitarian efforts.

Job Overview:
The intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Human Resources Intern will be an integral part of the HR Administration Team, contributing to the administration of benefits and entitlements as well as contract administration for OCHA's international field-based staff members and local staff based in Geneva. The intern will report directly to a Human Resources Officer and is expected to engage in a variety of tasks that will provide significant learning opportunities in the field of human resources and the workings of the United Nations.   • The intern will work five days a week and may have the option for flexible working arrangements, including two days of telecommuting per week, depending on the successful candidate's availability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a range of tasks that contribute to the efficiency of the HR Administration Team. Key responsibilities include: 1) Maintaining HR-related automated systems and applications, including databases that contain HR-related information by sorting, classifying, and uploading relevant documents onto the OCHA HR filing system. 2) Maintaining HR-related files and records, both electronic and paper, and assisting the HR Officer with initial reviews to ensure accuracy. 3) Conducting periodic follow-ups with staff members to ensure the complete submission of documents related to UN travel or other HR-related applications. 4) Providing general support services, which include processing, drafting, editing, proofreading, and finalizing correspondence and other communications for signature or approval. 5) Scheduling appointments and meetings while monitoring deadlines. 6) Initiating and carrying out other assigned tasks or special projects as needed.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet specific criteria: 1) They must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent) or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent). 2) Applicants should be computer literate in standard software applications, particularly MS Excel. 3) A demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter are essential. 4) Candidates must show the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs, demonstrating a willingness to understand and tolerate differing opinions and views. 5) A broad range of educational backgrounds is welcomed, particularly those with relevant coursework in business administration, management, strategic communications, project management, public administration, law, or human resources management.

Educational Background:
Candidates should possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or be enrolled in a graduate program. Relevant coursework in fields such as business administration, management, strategic communications, project management, public administration, law, or human resources management is highly desirable. The organization values diverse educational backgrounds, which can contribute to the overall effectiveness of the HR Administration Team.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in human resources and the workings of the United Nations. Any previous internships or volunteer experiences in HR or related fields would be advantageous, but the primary focus is on the candidate's commitment to learning and contributing to the team.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for this internship, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.
