Job Overview: The Resources Mobilization and Strategic Partnerships Specialist is a pivotal role within the UNFPA Venezuela Country Office, reporting directly to the Head of Office. This position is designed to strategically leverage the UNFPA brand to enhance partnerships, particularly with the private sector, and to mobilize non-core funding in Venezuela. The Specialist will work closely with various teams, including Humanitarian Operations, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Communications, to ensure the effective design and delivery of UNFPA's country program results and humanitarian aid. The role involves linking partnerships, resource mobilization, and communications to advocate for UNFPA's transformative goals, which include ending preventable maternal deaths, unmet needs for family planning, and gender-based violence. The Specialist will also be responsible for promoting the UNFPA brand and its goals through strategic alliances and networks, particularly under the 'Coalición Naranja' initiative.
Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will coordinate the production of high-quality, results-driven content and communication materials, including context analysis, financing appeals, statements, and reports for various stakeholders such as government entities, donors, cooperation agencies, media, and private sector partners. The Specialist will lead the design and implementation of the country office's partnership-building and resource mobilization strategy, ensuring timely and quality donor reports, funding proposals, and external communication materials. The role requires environmental scanning, relationship management, and substantive dialogue with donors and partners to garner support for UNFPA's mandate. The Specialist will identify strategic opportunities, develop outreach plans, and strengthen partnerships in the private sector. Additionally, the incumbent will prepare communications products, write funding proposals, and organize joint events with partners and donors. The role also involves advocating for UNFPA's transformative results and contributing to interagency strategic planning processes, ensuring alignment with humanitarian, development, and peace agendas.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in international development studies, social sciences, business administration, public administration, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of progressively relevant experience is required, with specialized knowledge of international development policies and practices. Experience in planning, reporting, and resource mobilization, particularly within the UN system, is highly advantageous. Strong analytical skills, excellent writing and communication abilities, and interpersonal skills are essential for this position. Proficiency in advanced computer skills is also necessary.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position is a Master’s degree in international development studies, social sciences, business administration, public administration, or a related field. This advanced degree is crucial for understanding the complexities of international development and resource mobilization.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively relevant experience in international development, resource mobilization, or related fields. Candidates should have a background in planning, reporting, and resource mobilization, with experience in the UN system considered a significant advantage.
