Job Overview: The Assistant for Emergency Response plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of emergency response projects funded by various donors. This position is designed to assist in the day-to-day operations of emergency projects, ensuring that they are executed effectively and in accordance with established guidelines and standards. The assistant will work closely with the field team, emergency officer, project manager, and support staff to facilitate the timely delivery of emergency services. The role requires a proactive approach to monitoring humanitarian issues and adapting project activities to meet the needs of vulnerable populations. The assistant will also be responsible for preparing reports and documentation related to project progress, ensuring that all activities align with NRC's mission and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Assistant for Emergency Response include but are not limited to:
Adhering to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines in all aspects of work.
Assisting with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to the established plan of action.
Preparing and developing status reports as required by management to track project progress.
Ensuring proper filing and organization of project documents to maintain transparency and accountability.
Promoting and sharing ideas for the improvement of support functions within the organization.
Providing support for the preparation of periodic progress reports and other documentation related to emergency responses.
Collaborating with the field team and other stakeholders to implement emergency projects effectively.
Monitoring humanitarian issues and advising on program activities and approaches as necessary.
Conducting regular reviews with the Emergency Officer and project coordinator to assess progress against indicators and identify challenges. 1
Collecting data and preparing reports for emergency projects, including donor reports and evaluation documents.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Assistant for Emergency Response position should possess the following qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in social sciences, psychology, or a related field.
A minimum of three years of experience in emergency response, protection, or related areas within a humanitarian context.
Previous experience working in complex and volatile environments is essential.
Documented results related to the responsibilities of the position are highly desirable.
Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications, are required.
Local knowledge of the context and local language skills are essential for effective communication and implementation of projects.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in social sciences, psychology, or a related field. This educational background provides the necessary theoretical foundation and understanding of the social dynamics and psychological aspects relevant to humanitarian work.
