Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is designed to provide practical experience in the field of public information and exhibits within the United Nations. The successful candidate will work in the Exhibits Unit, which is part of the Visitors Services Section of the Outreach Division in the Department of Global Communications. This role involves engaging with the public to promote understanding of the UN's mission and activities through thematic and educational exhibits. The intern will be involved in various tasks that support the development and execution of exhibits, which are crucial for outreach and education about UN priorities. The internship is part-time and in-person, allowing for flexibility based on the intern's needs and the unit's requirements. The expected duration of the internship is between 4 to 6 months, with a preferred start date of May 19, 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will have a diverse range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: supporting communication and outreach activities related to UN exhibitions, which involves drafting and editing content for the UN Exhibits website and social media platforms; researching and organizing materials for the development of exhibits; assisting in the design of exhibit materials; helping to plan and organize exhibit installations and opening events; providing general office support such as drafting correspondence, maintaining files and databases, and organizing meetings; and supporting the overall work of the Visitor Services Section. The intern will also be expected to perform other duties as required, contributing to the dynamic environment of the Exhibits Unit.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent), or be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study related to the internship is necessary. Candidates should possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word and MS PowerPoint, and should be able to draft short articles or social media posts. Familiarity with design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Canva is also desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in their final year of a bachelor's degree program, or enrolled in or have completed a master's or Ph.D. program. The educational background should be relevant to the internship, ideally in fields related to communications, public relations, international relations, or a similar discipline that aligns with the UN's mission and activities.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position. This could include internships, volunteer work, or projects related to public information, communications, or exhibit design.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Proficiency in additional languages may enhance a candidate's application but is not required.

This internship is part-time, requiring less than 34 hours of work per week. Interns are not financially compensated by the United Nations, and all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
