Job Overview:
The Partnerships Officer will be stationed in the UN Resident Coordination Office in Georgetown, Guyana, and will report to the Senior Development Coordination Officer, Strategic Planning and RCO Team Leader. The role involves providing substantive support for strategic planning and coordination of UN Country Team (UNCT) partnerships with civil society, the private sector, and other stakeholders to achieve the SDGs. The officer will assist in developing and implementing the UN Partnership Strategy, facilitate collaboration among UN entities, and engage with external stakeholders to foster partnerships. The position also entails participating in resource mobilization initiatives and supporting the management of pooled funds for the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. The officer will work closely with finance experts to promote partnerships that support financing for the SDGs and contribute to knowledge management and capacity development related to partnerships and resource mobilization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of sustainable development theories and concepts, with the ability to conduct independent research and analysis. Professionalism, planning and organizing skills, and accountability are essential competencies for this role. The officer should demonstrate a commitment to gender perspectives and the equal participation of women and men in all areas of work.
Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, sustainable development, social sciences, education, or a related area is required. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Successful completion of degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is an advantage.
Experience:
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management within the context of development cooperation or a related area is required. Candidates should have experience in preparing project/programme proposals and developing and implementing partnership and resource mobilization strategies. Experience in supporting financing of SDGs is desirable, as is work experience in data analytics or a related area.
Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official UN language is considered an advantage, as it enhances communication and collaboration within the UN system.
Additional Notes:
This is a fixed-term limited position, with an initial appointment period of one year. Extensions are subject to the availability of funds and budgetary approval. The position is open to nationals of Guyana only, and candidates residing outside Guyana may be considered if no suitable local candidates are identified. - Assist with the provision of substantive support for strategic planning and coordination of UNCT strategic partnerships with civil society, the private sector, and others for SDG achievement. This includes advising on the development and implementation of the UN Partnership Strategy, supporting working groups for effective implementation, and conducting liaison with UN entities.
- Participate in joint partnership and resource mobilization initiatives, providing support to develop locally tailored resource mobilization strategies and monitoring existing partnerships.
- Work closely with the RCO economist and UNCT finance experts to promote partnerships that support financing for the SDGs, preparing briefing papers and contributing to advocacy efforts.
- Contribute to knowledge management and capacity development by promoting collaboration, researching best practices, and maintaining a knowledge repository of potential donors.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned, ensuring effective engagement with stakeholders and supporting the overall mission of the UN.
