Job Overview:
The GBV Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of UNFPA's GBV program activities, particularly in the Red Sea region of Sudan. This position involves integrating GBV and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) interventions, contributing to project formulation, implementation, and evaluation of GBV programs in emergencies. The consultant will analyze political, social, and economic trends to inform program strategies and will provide day-to-day support to individual consultants deployed in the field. The role requires monitoring results, preparing regular reports, and guiding the application of systems and procedures to enhance program effectiveness. The consultant will also engage with local authorities and stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of GBV services and interventions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The GBV Consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: supporting program and budget management of the UNFPA GBV program, drafting work plans and operational plans for implementing partners, representing the UNFPA GBV program in coordination mechanisms, conducting location-specific mapping of GBV services, contributing to the development of concept notes and proposals, guiding implementing partners in assessing GBV risk factors, leading the implementation of GBV interventions, identifying needs of vulnerable groups, monitoring the quality of GBV services, coordinating GBV health response activities, supporting capacity building of GBV partners, and undertaking other relevant duties as assigned by the Head of the GBV Unit. The consultant will also ensure adherence to UNFPA policies and standards, lead assessments and situational analyses, prepare bi-weekly and quarterly reports, and maintain relations with local authorities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in social sciences or related fields. They should have at least two to three years of experience in GBV in emergencies, with a strong background in program planning, implementation, and monitoring. A successful track record in program management and extensive knowledge of gender and GBV issues in Sudan is essential. Candidates should demonstrate technical skills in project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of GBV programs in humanitarian settings. Familiarity with GBV programming standards and guidelines, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, is required.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in social sciences or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of gender-based violence and the socio-political context in which the consultant will operate.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of two to three years of relevant experience in GBV in emergencies. This experience should include program planning, implementation, and monitoring within a results-based management framework. A successful record of program management responsibilities is essential, along with a thorough understanding of the social, economic, and political context of Sudan and the region.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in both languages to effectively communicate and engage with diverse stakeholders in the context of GBV programming.
