Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is located within the Information Technology Unit of the Production and Support Service, which is part of the Division of Conference Management at the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management in Geneva. The internship is designed to provide practical experience in the field of information technology, specifically focusing on the use of Drupal and other web-based technologies. Interns are expected to work full-time for a period ranging from 2 to 6 months, assisting in various IT-related tasks under the supervision of the Chief of the Information Technology Section. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic international environment, contributing to the UN's mission while developing their technical skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in the receipt and processing of user requests; providing basic technical support for hardware and software applications; assisting in the installation of application systems software and hardware; supporting the planning, design, development, and maintenance of customized application software systems; collaborating with senior IT staff on defining requirements; building, testing, and modifying prototype application software; assisting in the creation and maintenance of application software using Drupal; preparing technical and user documentation; providing support on software development matters; maintaining regular contact with users and technical staff; conducting research on new technologies; and performing other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). While no professional work experience is required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Candidates must be students in their final year of a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program, or have completed such a program. Proof of eligibility must be provided with the application.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a background in fields related to information technology, computer science, software engineering, or a similar discipline. The internship is open to students who are currently enrolled in or have recently completed relevant academic programs, ensuring that their education aligns with the responsibilities of the internship.

Experience:
No prior professional work experience is required for this internship.
